AN APPEAL Blessed Self, Hari Om! Salutations!! The Chinmaya Mission, Palakkad, Kerala, would like to acquaint you with the Chinmaya Tapovan Smriti Project, conceived with the blessing and encouragement of H.H. Swami Tejomayanandaji, Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide, coinciding with the Golden Jubilee year of the Mission. Param Poojya Swami Tapovan Maharaj was the revered Guru of Poojya Swami Chinmayanandaji. The site of the Chinmaya Tapovan Smriti Project, facing the Sahyadri ranges, is sanctified by two auspicious events: Firstly, Tapovan Maharaj had hallowed this precincts by the performance of his Tapas and secondly, Swami Chinmayanandaji conducted his first ever yagna in Kerala in the vicinity of this very site. After demolishing the almost-century old building existed therein, in its place a Temple of Sri Guruvayurappan with adjacent auditorium, dinning hall, offices and residential accommodation for Swamijis has been planned. The work on the project has just been started and the completion of the First Phase is expected by October 2002. The total outlay is around Rs.3.00 Crores for a 20,000 sq. ft. structure. This substantial project, in size and cost, for Palakkad Town is indeed a bold and strenuous endeavour. But with the blessings of Lord Guruvayurappan and the Gurus and active co-operation and assistance from the devoted people, it could materialize as per plans. The Mission, in the light of its philosophy of seeking the involvement of mass participation, has evolved certain schemes to raise the required resources, like: (1) Contribution for per square foot area sponsorship, (2) Donations in kind for the building materials to be paid in cash, (3) Donations from philanthropic individuals and institutions, (4) Commemorative Souvenir, etc. etc. We cordially invite you to participate in this noble task. We have no doubt that your benevolence would help us receive your liberal assistance to fulfil this monumental project on time. May Lord Guruvayurappan bless you. With Prem and Om, In the service of the Lord, Swami Aseshananda
