Residential Children Camp for Harihara Vidyalaya Children from 11th to 13th March 2016

Children Camp on Lord Surya was conducted at Chinmaya Surya from 11th to 13th March 2016. Over 50 children from Harihara Vidyalaya Matriculation School, Tamaraipakkam actively participated in the camp under the guidance of Priya Arunji. Smt. Thangam, Sevak from Chinmaya Mission, Tamaraipakkam, accompanied the children and guided them. Children attentively listened to  Brni. Shruti Chaitanyaji as she explained the glories of the Sun, symbolism of Lord Surya, learnings from Sun and worship of Sun. Sri Arunachalam taught the children songs on Lord Surya and Sri Sakthi Gurunathan conducted Arts and Craft session. Chyks Dilli Babu and Ram Kumar from Tamaraipakkam taught the children to perform Surya Namaskar. Children also performed the Gayatri Homam and participated in the puja under the guidance of Sri Baskaran and Smt.Raji Narayanan. Children learnt from Botanical Garden, enjoyed at Beach, sang bajans at Manakula Vinayagar Temple, performed japa at Siddhananda Temple and danced for Lord Surya.

Residential Children Camp for Pushpalata Matriculation Hr. Secondary School from 3rd May to 5th May 2016

46 children of Class XII from Pushpalata Matriculation Hr. Secondary School, Tirunelveli, participated in the three-day “Integrated Personality Development Camp” at Chinmaya Surya. Brni. Shruti Chaitanyaji and Priyaji from Tamaraipakkam facilitated the camp. The camp focused on building leadership qualities in the children. The camp was filled with interactive sessions, discussions, creativity sessions and presentations. Children were engrossed in devotion performing the Gayatri Homam. They enjoyed the fun time, the camp fire, visit to famous temple, beach and planetarium. They were introduced to the life and works of Pujya Gurudev through the movie “On A Quest”.

Non-Residential Children Camp for Sarvam Poothurai village Girls on 9th and 10th May 2016

76 children in the age group of 14 to 16 years participated in the two-day camp on “Love and Respect” at Sarvam venue in Poothurai village. Brni. Shruti Chaitanyaji and Smt. Raji Narayanan facilitated the camp. The camp focused on building right relationships and the attitude in work. Children actively participated in all the activities, discussions and presentations.

60 boys in the age group of 14 to 16 years participated in the one-day camp on “Love and Respect” at Sarvam venue. Brni. Shruti Chaitanyaji and Smt. Raji Narayanan facilitated the camp. The camp focused on building right relationships and the attitude in work. Children actively participated in all the activities, discussions and presentations.

30 children in the age group of 11 to 13 years participated in the three-day camp on “Bright as SUN” at Chinmaya Surya. Sri Baskaranji, Secretary of Chinmaya Mission welcomed the participants. Sri Natarajanji, President, addressed the children on the purpose of the camp. Brni. Shruti Chaitanyaji, Smt. Raji Narayanan and Sri Arunachalam facilitated the camp ably supported by Selvi Kaushika. Children actively participated in all the activities, creativity sessions, discussions and songs. They also paricipated in Gayatri Homam and also went for outing to Beach and Manakula Vinayagar temple.

40 children in the age group of 13 to 18 years participated in the three-day camp on “LEAD INDIA” at Chinmaya Surya. Sri Baskaranji, Secretary of Chinmaya Mission welcomed the participants. Sri Natarajanji, President, inaugurated the camp and briefed the children on the purpose of the camp. Brni. Shruti Chaitanyaji, Smt. Raji Narayanan and Sri Arunachalam facilitated the camp ably supported by Selvi Kaushika. Children actively participated in all the activities, creativity sessions, discussions and songs. They also paricipated in Gayatri Homam and also went for outing to Beach, Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Manakula Vinayagar temple.

My Transformation Transforms Nation – 2 days residential camp for Sarvam children – organized in Chinmaya Mission Puducherry.

No. of children – 130 in age group 14 to 16 yrs
Venue – Chinmaya Mission Puducherry, Krishna Nagar

The theme of the camp is “My Transformation Transforms Nation”. The integrated personality development camp focused on physical fitness, emotional stability, intellectual sharpness and patriotism.

The 2 days were filled with group discussions, games, activities, q & a sessions, short video clippings – all intended for bringing out dormant talents, erasing low tendencies, building confidence, instilling patriotism.

For physical Transformation, children were taught Surya namaskar, benefits of thoppu-karanam (super brain yoga), OM chanting, Vriksha-aasan, tips for healthy food habits and cleanliness.

For emotional Transformation, children had a group discussion on what emotions are hindering their progress; Solution to overcome them was provided through classroom session as well as activity. For instance, the trust fall activity to get rid of fear, Truth experiment to overcome telling lies, Tolerance game to know how to increase our patience etc.

For spiritual Transformation, significance of Gayathri mantra was taught, children participated in Gayathri havan, all were taken to Guru Siddhananda temple where they chanted Shiva Puranam.

For patriotic Transformation, children were enlightened on the glory of India.

Apart from the sessions, sevaks were thrilled to see the adaptable nature of the children which was very evident in dormitory room sharing, readiness to serve – whether it be cleaning the classrooms or serving food, being punctual for the classes and so on.

All the camps were thus a very fulfilling experience and the seeds sown in the young minds will blossom at the right time to result in a Transformed Nation.
