Chinmaya Naada Bindu is a unique project of the Chinmaya Mission to be run under the administration of Central Chinmaya Mission Trust.
Who we are
Chinmaya Naada Bindu is a planned Gurukul (a residential learning center) for Indian Performing Arts (traditional music and dances of India). Inaugurated in September 2009 as a project of the Central Chinmaya Mission Trust, we derive our inspiration from Swami Tejomayananda’s vision to propagate India’s Vedic and spiritual traditions through the Performing Arts. With much reverence we hold as our motto the phrases “Svara to Iśvara”, “Nartan to Paramātman” and “Geetam-Vadyam-Nrtyam to Satyam-Shivam-Sundaram”

Chinmaya Naada Bindu is housed in the premises of Chinmaya Vibhooti, a spiritual resource centre for Swami Chinmayananda’s works and teachings. This resource center is located on 70 acres of land at the foothills of the lush Sahyadri Mountain range in the village of Kolwan near Pune, India. Our setting has been compared to the “Jacob’s Pillow” by renowned Indian dance-scholar Dr. Sunil Kothari.
Culture tones the mental muscles and lends dignity to the personality. However, personality includes not only the physical, the mental and the intellectual, but also the spiritual aspect. This last aspect is usually forgotten, leaving the person thirsting for something that he cannot identify. Chinmaya Naada Bindu will help bridge this gap and bring peace to the thirsting personality.

Foster artistic excellence • Nurture the spiritual • Create global connections
Our Vision Statement as given to us by Swami Tejomayananda is:
“To develop the arts of music and dance as a means of inner purification and self-realization and to create artists and art-lovers as the finest ambassadors of universal love, peace and harmony.”
- Foster excellence in the learning, practice, creation, and appreciation of traditional performing arts of India
- Nurture and promote the spiritual and holistic aspects of music, dance and allied arts of India
- Facilitate, documentation, preservation and research through exemplary archive facilities
- Provide an educational platform that brings together renowned practitioners, historians, students and the public
- Offer a venue for performers, artistic-directors, teachers & their students who wish to learn/work/rehearse in a retreat environment
- Create collaborative and global connections with other sacred music and dance forms of the world

As a Gurukul, we are beginning to offer facilities for ongoing classes and research based studies, along with workshops, performances and conferences. Our arts festivals are enhanced by spiritual discourses, lecture demonstrations and artists’ meets aimed at augmenting the holistic experience of classical arts for our audience.
Chinmaya Naada Bindu has already played host to numerous residential workshops and 3 performing arts festivals accompanied by discourses by Swami Tejomayananda himself.
The Naada Bindu Festival for the Arts, which began in Kolwan in 2010, will be presented as a travelling Festival, visiting different cities each year.
The 8-day Nrtya-Sura-Bharati Festival in Dec 2010 provided stage for both renowned artists of global acclaim as well as young and upcoming artists from the world Chinmaya family. The festival included 6-day performing arts intensives in music and dance conducted by our directors along with guest artists. During the spectacular monsoon season we will also offer themed residential dance/music workshops.
