Pujya Swami Tejomayananda conducts seminar for married couples in Ann Arbor, MI, U.S.A.
Date : 18 Aug, 2009
Pujya Swami Tejomayananda conducts seminar for married couples in Ann Arbor, MI, U.S.A. For the very first time in the history of Chinmaya Mission, Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda conducted a Young Married Couples' weekend seminar titled ‘Marriage - A Melody’ on July 25 and 26 at Chinmaya Mission Ann Arbor. This seminar mainly focused on young couples between 25 and 38 years of age. The 45 couples who attended came from various states in the U.S. and one couple came from the U.K. They ranged from recently married couples to those who had been married for more than 10 years. Interestingly, the ratio of 'arranged' versus 'love' marriages happened to be close to 50:50. On the first day, Pujya Guruji explained the meaning of 'successful' married life and parenting. This was followed by simple practical tips for a happy married life by by Acharya Vilasini. Her afternoon sessions on 'Managing Negative Emotions' and structured 'Couples Dialogue' were very effective. The day concluded with a captivating question-answer session with Pujya Guruji followed by dinner and a cultural programme. On the second day, Pujya Guruji gave an engaging talk on 'Harmony in Marriage'. This was followed by interactive sessions with him and with Acharya Vilasini. With love, humor, and wisdom, Pujya Guruji conveyed to the participants the fact that Vedantic principles can be translated into practical life skills for young married couples facing a variety of modern day demands. He addressed the topic beautifully through the songs and slokas he had composed specifically for the occasion, giving advice and inspiration for improving marital happiness and using the householder life as a platform to gain moksha. The overwhelming response to this seminar shows that there is a need for repeating such seminars in the future. Chinmaya Mission Ann Arbor was blessed to have this seminar on the eve of our 25th anniversary!
