Projects under these two schemes aim at providing a quiet and serene life for senior citizens. Centres with Pitamaha Sadans are at Rewa, Mandhana (near Kanpur), Tamaraipakkam (near Chennai), Siruvani (Coimbatore), Ellayapalle (A. P.), Kolhapur (Maharashtra), Allahabad (U.P.) and Sidhbari (Himachal Pradesh). These centres provide affordable and comfortable accommodation, nourishing, vegetarian food, books, televisions, video players, video tapes and medical facilities. The focus of the pitamaha sadans is on spirituality and to provide home away from home. They organize many spiritual activities and provide an excellent ambience for spiritual unfoldment.

Central Chinmaya Vanaprastha Sansthan (CCVS) is a scheme administered by C.C.M.T. to give training to the vanaprasthis assisting/training them to change their role in life from grihasthas to vanaprastha ashram. The implementation of the scheme at the grass-root level is by the Chinmaya Vanaprastha Sansthan (CVS). Training programmes are conducted from basic to advanced courses giving the participants inputs on scriptural texts, yoga, finance management etc. The aim is to help them to withdraw from worldly life and progress towards the life of detachment with the ultimate aim of getting liberation from world of samsara.

These courses are becoming more and more popular and the participation is very encouraging.
