Swami Chinmayananda established seminaries for the study of Vedanta where students can learn not only the concepts in the scriptures, but can also withdraw temporarily from worldly life, internalize the teachning for a few years, and prepare themselves for passing on the practical application of Vedanta to others. Many graduates of Sandeepany - Swamis/Swaminis, Brahmacharis / Brahmacharinis, and householders - are now teaching at centers all around the world. Seminaries of Chinmaya Mission are called Sandeepany after the guru of Lord Sri Krishna. Seekers of spiritual knowledge stay at Sandeepany and Chinmaya Mission provides boarding and lodging without charge to eligible students. They follow a strict schedule of classes, combined with reflection to digest the truths they learn day to day. The course consists of the Bhagavad Geeta, the major Upanishads, and the Brhmasutras, the three pillars of Hindu philosophy. Some bhakti scriptures and Sanskrit are also included in the curriculum. |

The students have a long stay of about two and a half years, without home visits. However they do take trips to holy places for special camps. |
