Swami Prakarshananda

An alumnus of Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Powai, has an illustrious record of service to the Chinmaya Mission through his dedicated teaching, spiritual guidance, and missionary work.

A postgraduate in Veterinary Science, Swamiji served as an Assistant Professor at Bombay Veterinary College for seven years and also completed an advanced Yoga course at the University of Mumbai.

His exposure to the Bhagavad Gita during his Yoga training proved life-transforming. Subsequently, he joined the Vedanta Course at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya for intensive monastic training through the systematic study of the scriptures.

Committed to propagating Vedanta, he was initiated as Brahmachari Prahlad and posted to Madgaon, Goa. In 2014, on the auspicious occasion of Shivaratri, he received Sannyasa Diksha and was ordained as Swami Prakarshananda.

Key Contributions at Madgaon Centre

Swami ji served at the Madgaon Centre from 2004 to 2016. During this period, he undertook several noteworthy initiatives, including:

Conducting Vedanta sessions for priests at the Rachol Seminary.
Pioneering and leading a long-running Bhagavad Gita course at BITS Pilani Goa Campus from 2007 to 2016.
Leading a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar, and authoring a widely appreciated Hindi travelogue on the yatra.

Service in Delhi & Sandeepany Himalayas

In May 2016, Swamiji was posted to the Delhi Centre of Chinmaya Mission, where he travelled extensively across the NCR, conducting satsangs and Vedanta classes. His Hindi and English meditation modules for all age groups have been well received, focusing on willpower, confidence, and mental clarity.

He also conducted a successful Youth Leadership Program in Amritsar, based on the philosophy of Learn, Serve and Grow, combining life skills, spiritual wisdom, and leadership training.

In 2024, Swamiji was posted to Sandeepany Himalayas, Sidhbari, Himachal Pradesh, as Acharya for the 14th batch of the two-year Hindi Vedanta Course. He trained young novices in Vedantic texts and prepared them for monastic life before returning to Delhi in May 2026.

A dynamic spiritual guide fluent in Hindi, English, Marathi, and Sanskrit, Swamiji is known for his simple, practical approach and relatable explanations that make Vedanta accessible to seekers of all ages.
