From 13-20 September 2026, 24 seekers from Chinmaya Mission Niagara embarked on a memorable Devi Yatra through the American Southwest, guided by Shri Vivek Gupta.
The Yatra took the group through some of the region’s most spectacular landscapes, including Red Rock Canyon, Death Valley, Valley of Fire, Zion National Park, Horseshoe Bend, Glen Canyon, Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Beyond exploring these natural wonders, the Yatra offered an opportunity for inner reflection and spiritual growth.
Guided by five simple yet profound principles - Slow, Step, See, Smile and Serve - the Yatris engaged in satsang, silence, contemplation, Hanuman Chalisa chanting, hiking and reflection amidst nature. These practices encouraged them to move beyond intellectual understanding of the teachings and put them into practice in everyday life.
Seva was an integral part of the Yatra, with dedicated teams supporting nutrition, transportation, medical needs, accommodation and publications. The Publication Team documented the experience through photographs and daily reflections, allowing fellow Yatris to disconnect from their phones and be fully present. Thoughtful planning, balanced with the flexibility to embrace the unexpected, created space for discipline, spontaneity, fellowship and joy.
The Devi Yatra was a shared spiritual experience that brought together nature, contemplation and selfless service, reminding each Yatri of the value of slowing down, being present and truly seeing the world within and around them.
