Celebrating students' dedication to scriptural learning, Chinmaya Mission Chennai organised the prize distribution ceremony of the Tamil Gita Chanting Competition 2025 at Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road. 

The event showcased a meaningful initiative to bring the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita closer to students through the Tamil language. 

Welcoming the gathering, O. V. Nambiar, President of Chinmaya Mission Chennai, highlighted the importance of making scriptural wisdom accessible to young minds in their mother tongue. Swami Mitrananda, shared that the Tamil versification of the Bhagavad Gita was a heartfelt offering to Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. He also announced that the competition will be held annually to encourage continued engagement and learning. Swami Sureshananda spoke about the process behind the Tamil rendition and its musical journey, including its recording with world-renowned composer Ilaiyaraaja. 

The event recognised outstanding performance across junior and senior categories, with students from various schools participating. In the senior category, Sriman Srivatsan of Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Mylapore secured first place, followed by Sahana S. of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylors Road and Shriya S. of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam.

In the junior category, Vasundaraa K.A. of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar won the first prize, while Ramesh Sai Krupa of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Virugambakkam and Neha G. of Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Adyar secured the second and third prizes respectively.

Winners were rewarded with attractive prizes, with first prize winners receiving cars, second prize winners receiving scooters, and third prize winners receiving bicycles, adding excitement to the occasion.

Chief guest Leena Nair, I.A.S., (Retd) appreciated the initiative, noting that learning the Bhagavad Gita at a young age helps instil discipline, strong character and clarity of thought in students.
