Purohita Course

Ritualism in Hinduism holds great meaning when guided properly. This is the fundamental aim of the 18-month Chinmaya Purohita course.

A Purohita may be understood as a priest who is well-versed in Vedic mantras and the performance of Vedic rituals and yajnas and their meaning, The term ‘Purohita’ indicates a person who dedicates his life for the welfare of society.

Graduates of the Chinmaya Purohita Course, known as Vedaputras, actively serve communities with a renewed perspective, preserving and propagating Hindu traditions with wisdom and devotion.

Course Offerings

Selected students, the Vedaputras (aged 15-30), undergo intensive training for 1.5 to 2 years. The curriculum includes Sanskrit grammar, astrology, English and Vedic chanting, along with practical training in conducting Bala Vihars, Devi groups and short satsangs.

The Chinmaya Mission Purohita ensures rituals are performed with proper understanding. Chinmaya Mission offers the Purohita Course at multiple Centres:
