Chinmaya Mission Austin (CMA) Lakeway Chapter

The Chinmaya Mission Lakeway Chapter offers a welcoming space for children, youth, and adults to learn, grow, and connect with the timeless wisdom of Vedanta and India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

Overview of the Lakeway Center

Through Shishu Vihar, Bala Vihar, and Adult Vedanta classes, the chapter provides age-appropriate learning for every stage of life. Children learn through stories, games, activities, and discussion, while adults engage in the systematic study and practical application of Vedantic teachings. Together, these programs nurture strong values, clarity of thought, character, and spiritual growth for the entire family.

Programs Offered

The satellite center focuses on Bala Vihar, which is Chinmaya Mission's structured world-class spiritual and cultural education program for children.
The classes teach human values and Hindu philosophy using age-appropriate stories and games. The center also offers adult Vedanta classes.

The Lakeway Chapter hosts five learning sections every Sunday :

Lower Elementary-Building a foundation of values and devotion through stories, activities, and joyful learning.
Upper Elementary -Discovering values and life lessons through the Ramayana and other inspiring stories from India’s spiritual heritage.
Middle School-Developing character, self-awareness, confidence, and a strong sense of identity through Vedantic teachings.
High School-Exploring the Bhagavad Gita and applying its timeless wisdom to the questions and challenges young adults face.
Adult Vedanta Classes-Guided study and discussion of Vedantic texts, bringing their practical wisdom into everyday life.

Core Mission

Like all global chapters, the Lakeway center follows the vision of founder Swami Chinmayananda.
Its core goal is to provide the timeless wisdom of Vedanta (ancient Hindu philosophy) to people of all backgrounds.
It offers practical tools to help both children and adults find inner peace and become positive contributors to society.
The Chinmaya Mission Austin Lakeway classes meet every Sunday.

How to Volunteer (Seva)

All programs at the Lakeway branch are staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers.
You can offer your time and skills for following roles by sending an email to Chinmayaltx@gmail.com.

Bala Vihar Teachers & Co-teachers:
Guiding children through the structured moral curriculum.
Class Coordinators:
Helping manage attendance, classroom setups, and communications.
Special Events & Festivals:
Setting up temporary altars, coordinating food, or handling local logistics.
