On Mokshada Ekadashi, 1 December 2025, Swami Abhedananda led the Prana Pratishtha (consecration) of the first ever Annapoorna Devi Temple outside India. Vedic priests conducted the sacred abhishekam of the shikhara and the deity, offering devotees their first sight of Her vibrant, lifelike form. Nearly 4,000 devotees offered bowls of rice and carried energized grains home as prasad. In the presence of saints from across South Africa, Swami Abhedananda also unveiled the inaugural plaque carrying Swami Swaroopananda’s words.

In the evening, cultural performances and the presence of the Hon’ble Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Mr. Thami Ntuli, added further joy. Praising Chinmaya Mission, he urged all to spread Devi Maa’s grace. The day concluded with countless devotees reveling in the divine presence of Shri Chinmaya Annapoorna Devi.

Chinmaya Mission South Africa’s 'Nourish to Flourish' initiative has already served over 250,000 meals to the poor, and Devi Annapoorna has now graced the shores of Durban.
