As a part of the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of the Chinmaya Movement, Chinmaya Mission Ponda organised a Samashti Hanuman Chalisa Havan.
Conducted at the Sports Complex Ground in Ponda, Goa, on 18 January 2026, the event was graced by the august presence of Swami Tejomayananda, former Global Head of Chinmaya Mission and the Honorable Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant.
The programme commenced with a puja of Lord Ganesha, the Navagrahas and Lord Hanuman, following which the sacred fire was lit in 27 havan kunds. Over 1000 devotees offered their Ahutis (oblations) in a spiritually charged atmosphere as the Hanuman Chalisa was sung melodiously by Swami Sughoshananda, along with renowned singers from Goa and 350 school children of Ponda Taluka. Swami Tejomayananda singing the final two avartans of the Hanuman Chalisa was the most cherished moment of the event.
The purnahuti havan was then performed, followed by the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav song which was sung by Bala Vihar children of Chinmaya Mission Ponda.
The welcome address was delivered by Sandip Nigalye, President of Chinmaya Mission Ponda, followed by a speech by the Chief Minister of Goa, who expressed his appreciation and support for the initiatives of Chinmaya Mission, especially its efforts to impart values to children and youth.
Swami Tejomayananda congratulated Swami Sughoshananda and his team, appreciating the grandeur of the event. Drawing upon Hanuman's example, he explained that when a devotee serves without any expectations, he becomes dear to the Lord.
At the event, the three national-level winners of the Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition from Ponda, along with their trainers, Gauri Nayak and Pratibha Prabhudesai, were felicitated. The Pramukh Havan Yajamans and the Sampoorna Annadaan Yajamans were also felicitated. A Shri Hanuman Chalisa dance by students of Lasya Nritya Academy, trained by Padmaja Sharma, was a delight for the audience.
A short film depicting the life and times of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, along with His AI-curated Hindi discourse on “Gita Panchamrit" were received with deep reverence.
The programme was ably compered by Radha Gad, followed by a vote of thanks by Anand Vaghurmekar, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organisers, sponsors, participants, volunteers and devotees.
The event concluded with the Chinmaya Mission Pledge and the National Anthem, after which Mahaprasad was served to all.
Marked by a collective spiritual invocation, the event united all in reverence and devotion.
