Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV) marked a significant milestone in its journey of internationalisation with the signing of an MoU with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), USA.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Onakkoor facility in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Manoj Kumar Arora, Prof. Dr. Nagaraj K. Neerchal, Professor and Chair, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, UMBC, and Prof. Dr Ramesh Pattni, Head – Centre of Excellence for IKS-CKS Integration and Innovation (CoE IKS-CKS), reaffirming a shared commitment to meaningful global academic collaboration.
The partnership aims to establish a credit-based student exchange programme focused on Indian Knowledge Systems, creating opportunities for international students to engage deeply with India’s civilisational wisdom through structured academic immersion.
As part of the first phase of the collaboration, CVV will host 12 students from UMBC at the Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) for a residential Gurukula-based holistic education programme under a credit-based system. The programme will offer immersive exposure to Indian philosophy, Sanskrit, culture and Indian Knowledge Systems through coursework, experiential learning, seminars and cultural engagement.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Manoj Kumar Arora emphasised the importance of international academic collaborations in taking India’s knowledge traditions to the global stage and nurturing culturally grounded, globally aware learners.
The collaboration with UMBC marks an important step in CVV’s internationalisation journey, strengthening its vision of becoming a global hub for Indian Knowledge Systems-based education, research and academic exchange. The engagement under the MoU will be coordinated through CVV’s Office of International Relations, led by Ms. Anupama Jims, Assistant Director – International Relations.
