Embracing the spirit of Punjab, Chinmaya Amrit Yatra received a grand welcome at Amritsar.
The celebrations began on 3 October with a Shobha Yatra through Ranjit Avenue, followed by Guru Paduka Puja at the Chinmaya Mission Amritsar ashram. Devotees and members of Chinmaya Mission participated in the programme with devotion and enthusiasm.
On 4 October, the Yatra entered the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Amritsar campus after passing through Shivala Temple Road, Batala Road and Bhavans Marg. Students welcomed the Yatra with Sannyasa Suktam, Punjabi dhol and traditional boliyan.
The programme at Bhavans also featured a specially created traditional 'Punjab Village', showcasing the rich and colourful heritage of Punjab. The initiative aimed to help students reconnect with their cultural roots and traditional heritage in an increasingly modern world.
A cultural evening titled 'Punjabi Mela' was organised at Kumar Sadan. Students presented various aspects of Punjabi culture, including rural life, folk traditions, Gidda, Bhangra, Sufi dance, folk songs and Gatka. All performances were accompanied by live music performed by the Bhavans' music team, enhancing the vibrancy of the cultural presentations.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Avinash Mohindru, Chairman of Bhavans Amritsar and President of Chinmaya Mission Amritsar welcomed the guests and appreciated the contribution of the Chinmaya Yuva Kendra in organising this grand Yatra. On the occasion, one English and four Punjabi-translated books of Chinmaya Mission were also released.
Addressing the gathering, Swami Mitrananda, Head of Chinmaya Mission Chennai and North East described the Yatra as an opportunity to experience oneness and connect with people across the country. He spoke about the message of the Bhagavad Gita, Advaita Vedanta, happiness and selfless service, and invited everyone to be part of the concluding celebrations at Bharat Mandapam.
