Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK)

In a world full of questions, confusion, and change, Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) calls out to young minds and hearts. Started by Swami Chinmayananda in 1975, CHYK is more than an organisation - it is a vibrant, life-transforming movement for youth between the ages of 14 and 28 (Participants aged 12 to 14, are referred to as Junior CHYKs).

As Swami Chinmayananda beautifully said, “Youth are not useless, they are used less; they are not careless, they are cared less.” CHYK intends to engage, empower, and elevate the youth. At CHYK, we believe in the power of YOUth - your energy, idealism, questions, and vision. With the wisdom of Vedanta and the spark of youthful dynamism, CHYK helps youth rise beyond the ordinary and live life with meaning, purpose, and inner strength.

Aiming at creating the future nation-builders, Chinmaya Mission runs Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP), a year-long work-study residential programme for youngsters aged 18-28.

Emblem and Identity

A flame protected yet mobile, lit at the altar of knowledge, shining the light of Vedantic wisdom in the world. Our emblem reminds us that each youth is a torch-bearer, carrying light where there is darkness.

“You are all torch-bearers for the world, spreading the light of the Eternal Scriptures that you yourselves have studied and practiced.” – Gurudev
