Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition Gurgaon

Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition – Gurugram

For the past sixteen years, Chinmaya Gurudham has proudly hosted the Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition (GCC) in Gurugram — a sacred initiative inspired by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda’s vision to make the Bhagavad Gita a living guide for children and adults alike.

What began as a humble effort within our Bala Vihar family has today blossomed into a citywide celebration of devotion, discipline, and divine learning.

Nurturing Values Through the Gita

At Chinmaya Gurudham, the Gita Chanting Competition is not merely about memorizing verses — it is about awakening the Gita spirit within. Each child who learns to chant also learns to focus, reflect, and live in harmony with dharma. Under the loving guidance of trained sevikas, participants are taught the correct pronunciation, meaning, and rhythm of each verse over a 2–3 month mentoring process, turning every practice session into an act of devotion.

Widespread Participation and School Outreach

The 2025 competition witnessed a truly heartening response.

Over 1,400 students registered from 25 schools across Gurugram, including 6 enthusiastic schools from Faridabad that joined us for the first time. We were also blessed to have active involvement from local government schools, where teachers were personally trained by Gurudham sevikas to ensure accurate chanting and understanding. Through this outreach, the divine message of the Gita continues to reach children from all walks of life, uniting them in the shared joy of sacred learning.

Guided with Grace, Judged with Devotion

The competition is thoughtfully conducted in three rounds, with dedicated and experienced judges guiding the process at every stage. Their focus extends beyond accuracy — they nurture confidence, devotion, and the inner transformation that comes through chanting with sincerity and love.

A Grand Celebration of Learning and Light

The final round of the Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition is celebrated as a grand annual event, hosted with the generous support of leading institutions such as Scottish High International School and Delhi Public School, Gurgaon. This year, more than 120 prizes were presented to recognize and encourage the thirst for learning, sincerity of effort, and depth of devotion. The atmosphere on the final day was filled with the sacred sound of shlokas, heartfelt applause, and the quiet joy of seeing Gurudev’s vision unfold through young voices.

Continuing Gurudev’s Mission

Now in its 16th year, the Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition at Gurudham stands as a living tribute to Gurudev’s mission — to make the Gita a guide for life, not merely a scripture to be read. Each chant echoes His timeless message: “To know the Gita is to know life.”

Through this sacred endeavor, we continue to kindle a lifelong love for learning and a deep reverence for the wisdom of the Gita — one verse, one child, one heart at a time.

The Essence of a Jnana Yajna

Burning ignorance through Vedantic wisdom.

Missing {alternativeText}!!!
  • Swami Chinmayananda coined the term ‘Jnana Yajna’ for Chinmaya Mission’s free public discourses on the scriptures. Traditionally, a yajna is a fire ritual where offerings are burned to invoke divine blessings. In a Jnana Yajna, ignorance of our true nature is symbolically burned in the fire of Vedantic wisdom, revealing the Self.
  • This transformative concept was first introduced in Pune in 1951, when Swami Chinmayananda addressed just five seekers. The thirst for accessible and inspiring teachings on the Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita quickly grew, and by the 1960s, his discourses were drawing tens of thousands—making Vedantic knowledge available to all, regardless of background.
