Skandha Shashti Uthsavam at Tirunelveli Centre

The Skanda Shashti Uthsavam was organised by Tirunelveli center from 12th November 2015 to 18th November 2015.

Skanda shashti is dedicated to Lord Karthikeya and is celebrated in a grand manner in Tamilnadu every year for six days starting from the day next to Diwali amavasya.  The sixth day is considered to be the day of Surasamharam, the day on which Surapadman, a demon was killed by the Lord.

Daily pujas were conducted both in the mornings and evenings for the entire week.  On the last day, annadanam was arranged for the devotees.  Around 70 to 80 people attended the daily puja and on the last day around 150 devotees participated in the festival. 

 A yagna was also organised from 12th Nov 2015 to 16th Nov 2015 in a temple nearby the center.  Swami Sridharanandaji, talked on ‘Kandar Anubhuti’, a popular text in Tamil dedicated to Lord Karthikeya.  Around 70 to 80 devotees attended the talk everyday.  

Following the Skanda Shasti Uthsavam, the centre also organised a Vilaku Puja (Deepa Jyoti Puja) on 25th Nov 2015, the day of Karthik Poornima.
