As part of the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav celebrations marking 75 years of Chinmaya Movement, Chinmaya Mission Chicago hosted "Vayuputra in the Windy City", a grand spiritual gathering dedicated to Lord Hanuman at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, Illinois.
On 11 July, in one of the largest Hindu spiritual gatherings held in the Midwest this year, more than 4,000 devotees of all ages came together to invoke Lord Hanuman's blessings for peace, well-being, and harmony across the world.
Gracing the occasion, Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, shared a profound reflection: "'Chi' signifies energy, which comes from Prana, and Prana originates from Vayu (wind)." His words beautifully echoed the significance of the venue itself. Aptly known as the Windy City, Chicago became a fitting host for this Mahayajna dedicated to Vayuputra Hanuman.
The programme featured Shri Hanuman Chalisa Havan and collective chanting, filling the atmosphere with devotion and spiritual fervour. A vibrant Family Mela complemented the sacred observances, bringing together devotees across generations through a rich array of cultural performances. Soulful bhajans, energetic dance presentations, and inspiring dramas depicting Shri Hanuman's virtues captivated the audience, while interactive activities encouraged fellowship and joyful participation among families.
More than a celebration, the event became a living expression of Shri Hanuman's timeless ideals of strength, devotion, humility, and selfless service. Through collective prayer, cultural celebration, and community participation, it reaffirmed the enduring power of devotion to foster harmony, unity, and spiritual inspiration across the global community.
