As Chinmaya Movement steps into its milestone 75th year, a fresh wave of inspiration is sweeping across the global Chinmaya family. At the heart of this celebration is Gita Panchamrit: a concise, powerful doorway into the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. The very theme, “5 Shlokas. 1 Essence”, captures its purpose: to make the Bhagavad Gita simple, accessible and deeply relevant for everyone.
This initiative was formally launched during the National Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition 2025, for the occasion of Gita Jayanti 2025, at Chinmaya Vibhooti Vision Centre, Kolwan, near Pune. It was indeed a moment filled with anticipation, as Pujya Swami Swaroopananda (Global Head, Chinmaya Mission) unveiled a large book format of the Gita Panchamrit and turned its pages, against the sound of conches blowing and with saffron flags being held high by attendees of all ages. A truly inspiring moment, the launch resonated deeply with the 500+ people present, marking the beginning of a movement that invites individuals and families to discover the Bhagavad Gita not as a distant scripture, but as a companion for daily living. Each person present was given a Gita Panchamrit card, a keepsake for life.
The genesis of Gita Panchamrit lies in a compassionate insight: from the Gita’s 700 transformative verses, Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda and Pujya Swami Swaroopananda have carefully chosen five that every individual can learn and memorise. In an age where information overwhelms but inner strength seems scarce, these five verses become an anchor. They reconnect us with clarity and purpose, inviting us to learn, chant, reflect and live the Gita, not as philosophy tucked away in books, but as a daily source of strength and guidance.
