Chinmaya Mission Madurai celebrated the International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm on Sunday 21 June 2026, at Om Sadhana Central School, Virattipathu, Madurai. The event witnessed the active participation of more than 100 Yoga enthusiasts, including children, youth, adults and senior citizens ranging in age from 5 to 80 years.
The participants performed a series of Yoga Asanas, Pranayama and Dhyana in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The programme reflected the spirit of this year's Yoga Day by promoting physical well-being, mental balance and inner harmony.
A special highlight of the event was the enthusiastic participation of 25 special children from Thendral Vidyalaya, whose joyful involvement inspired everyone present. The participants had been undergoing one month of regular Yoga practice in preparation for the celebration.
Addressing the gathering, Brahmachari Jitesh Chaitanya emphasised the importance of incorporating yogic practices into one's daily life, stating that Yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a holistic discipline that nurtures the body, mind and intellect, leading to a healthy and harmonious life.
The Yoga session was conducted and coordinated by Smt. Jyothi Venkatesh, Yoga Instructor and a member of Chinmaya Devi Group, who guided the participants through the various practices with dedication and precision.
The programme concluded with the distribution of commemorative T-shirts, participation certificates, refreshments and breakfast to all the participants. The celebration successfully reinforced the timeless message of Yoga as a means to achieve individual well-being and universal peace.
