Milan, meaning “meeting” in Sanskrit, was staged on 26 July 2025 at the UCC Auditorium, National University of Singapore. Conceived, produced and performed entirely by 50 young adults of the Chinmaya Mission Singapore youth wing (CHYKs), most with no prior theatre experience, the musical was a heartfelt attempt to inspire the youth.

The Broadway-style production featured a 25-member live orchestra and 15 classically trained dancers blending Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi and contemporary styles. Striking costumes, imaginative choreography and a powerful musical score - ranging from tabla and veena to guitars and vocals - brought to life the emotional journey of Jyoti, a young girl seeking validation and struggling with self-doubt. The cast’s strong performances kept the narrative deeply relatable.

Ultimately, Milan depicted Jyoti’s discovery that peace begins within, where ego dissolves into grace with support from caring friends. The musical concluded with a visually striking finale, symbolizing Jyoti - whose name means “light” - spreading that light to others, leaving the audience both moved and inspired.
