To mark 75th year and celebrate Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav, Chinmaya Mission Kansas City hosted the Samashti Gita Chanting event on Sunday, 8 March 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas. Around 275 people, including children and adults, participated in the event.
The programme began with invocations to Lord Ganesha and Guru followed by bhajans by the Swaranjali group. All participants then took part in chanting the Bhagavad Gita Ashtottaram, Gita Dhyana shlokas, Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15, and Gita Panchamrit (5 essential verses).
A Mohiniattam dance performance based on Arjuna’s surrender to Lord Krishna was presented by one of the mission members.
The highlight of the event was a musical skit on Purushottama Yoga (Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15), performed by adults and Bala Vihar children. The skit brought the teachings of the Gita to life in an engaging and memorable way.
Over 20 sevaks worked on creating trifold boards for all 18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita, summarising each chapter, providing practical wisdom for daily living. The boards were beautifully displayed for participants to explore and get a bird’s eye view of each chapter.
The programme concluded with the Gita Aarti and Gurudev Aarti, after which all families received a copy of the Gita Panchamrit book as prasad.
The day was a wonderful celebration of community, devotion and the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, leaving everyone inspired and uplifted - a fitting tribute to Pujya Swami Chinmayananda, who worked tirelessly to bring the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita to the masses.
