Living Our Environmental Responsibility

Since it’s founding, Chinmaya Mission has been guided by the values of love and protection for nature. From the biogas plant at Sandeepany Himachal to rainwater harvesting at Chinmaya Vibhooti and plastic-free campuses at Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV), the Mission actively promotes environmental awareness and responsibility for a sustainable future.

Swami Tapovan, the guru of Swami Chinmayananda and spiritual grandfather of the Mission, is remembered for his devotion to nature as a manifestation of the Divine. Moved by his Guru’s concern over humanity’s exploitation of nature, Swami Chinmayananda emphasized that ‘respecting and protecting nature through conservation and cleanliness is essential to a civilized society.’
