Living the Message of the Bhagavad Gita
Swami Chinmayananda, revered as the "Gita Acharya", dedicated his life to spreading the eternal wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. Recognising the importance of introducing these teachings early in life, he initiated the Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition (CGCC) – a unique endeavour to instill the values of the Bhagavad Gita through the sacred practice of chanting.
From Bala Vihar to a Global Movement
What began as a Bala Vihar initiative has blossomed into a cherished global tradition. The CGCC is now a central activity of Chinmaya Mission Centres worldwide, welcoming children, youth and adults alike – all united by love for the Bhagavad Gita.
Inspired by Gurudev’s vision to “catch them young”, the CGCC reflects Chinmaya Mission’s holistic method: Chant – Study – Know – Live.
More Than a Competition
The CGCC is not just about memorising verses. Chanting the verses of the Bhagavad Gita kindles a deep desire to understand its teachings. It fosters inner reflection, cultivates devotion and becomes a gateway to self-discovery. Each verse, when chanted with sincerity, opens the heart to divine truths and transforms lives from within.
Global Gita InitiativesTo further enliven the message of the Bhagavad Gita and inspire regular engagement, Chinmaya Mission hosts several complementary global initiatives:
Gita FestA worldwide celebration of the Bhagavad Gita through chanting competitions, interactive learning events and cultural performances.
Learn Gita InitiativeDesigned especially for children, this programme focuses on teaching the meanings, vocabulary and context of Bhagavad Gita verses, encouraging deeper connection and comprehension.
GITA Yuva TalksYouth-led talks that explore the relevance of the Bhagavad Gita’s teachings in modern life, inspiring dynamic discussions and application-oriented thinking.
