30 women of different ages from across the UK gathered at The Vedanta Retreat Centre in Lincolnshire for a thoroughly enjoyable and introspective weekend spent delving into the purpose of meditation with Brahmacharini Shripriya Chaitanya.
Sessions emphasised the importance of introspection in the life of a spiritual seeker, its role alongside a life lived in the spirit of Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga, guidance on the practice of contemplation and the real aim of meditation; the effortless abidance in one’s true Self.
Alongside guided meditation sessions was daily hatha yoga and chanting, as well as several wonderfully designed games and activities to help bring attention to one's capacity to listen, observe, taste and engage the mind and senses fully. There were artistic activities too that prompted deeper reflection, inspired by the stunning natural surroundings and a Saturday night bonfire in which the group were encouraged to drop thought patterns and memories unconducive to spiritual path.
Beyond the timetabled sessions, the weekend provided a wonderful forum for intergenerational sharing and laughter, bringing a deep sense of joy, stillness and fulfilment to all who attended.
