Pujya Gurudev’s 1951 Hyderabad visit marked the quiet beginning of the Chinmaya Movement.

Pujya Gurudev first visited Hyderabad in December 1951. Lakshmi Reddy Amma was only a small child when Pujya Gurudev first visited her father, Sri C. Gopal Reddy Garu, in Hyderabad. What began as a simple visit became an impromptu satsang on Bhakti—one that she witnessed with quiet wonder. It is said that from Hyderabad, Gurudev proceeded to Pune to begin his very 1st Jnana Yajna, marking this moment as a silent prelude to history.

From December 1951 in Pune to December 1956 in Hyderabad, Gurudev conducted a series of Jnana Yajnas that inspired widespread interest in the Vedic scriptures across the country. To mark the 25th Jnana Yajna held in Hyderabad, the first volume of a publication titled Hail Renaissance was released. The publication featured a letter from Gurudev dated 20 December 1956, reflecting on the emerging Hindu renaissance. It also included his article on the origin of the Chinmaya movement, along with messages and testimonials from devotees.
