About Chinmaya Mission
Chinmaya Mission® was established in India in 1953 by devotees of world-renowned Vedanta teacher, Swami Chinmayananda. Guided by his vision, devotees world-wide work to promote the ancient wisdom of the rishis through a wide range of spiritual, educational and charitable activities. Teaching of Bhagavad Geeta and the Upanishads is central to fulfilling the Mission’s goals for individual and societal peace and happiness. Headed by Swami Swaroopananda, the Mission has more than 300 centres across 25 countries. The headquarters are in Mumbai, India.

From a Silent Prelude to the 25th Jnana Yajna

A Historic Beginning: Gurudev’s first Hyderabad visit in December 1951 began as a home visit and blossomed into a spontaneous satsang on Bhakti.✦
The First Yajna: From Hyderabad, Gurudev proceeded to Pune to conduct his first Jnana Yajna, marking the dawn of a larger movement.✦
Spreading the Message: Between 1951 and 1956, his Jnana Yajnas rekindled nationwide interest in the Vedic scriptures.✦
Silver Milestone: The 25th Jnana Yajna was held in Hyderabad (Dec 1956–Jan 1957), focusing on Bhagavad Gita Chapters 14 and 15.✦
Hail Renaissance: This milestone was commemorated with the first volume of Hail Renaissance, featuring Gurudev’s message on the emerging Hindu renaissance.
Establishment of Sandeepany Kailash (1978–1990s)
Land Allotment and the Vision for Education

Government Support: In 1978, under the government of Marri Chenna Reddy, land at Kundanbagh, Begumpet was allotted to the Chinmaya Mission.✦
Sandeepany Kailash: The site, known as Sandeepany Kailash, was dedicated to spiritual and secular education.✦
Public Outreach: The premises hosted free educational and awareness sessions for the public.✦
Administrative Leadership: Govindaraju Garu served as a founding member and secretary (1981–1996).✦
Vidyalaya Inauguration: Chinmaya Vidyalaya was inaugurated on the campus by Pujya Gurudev in 1992
