On June 28th 2025, 65 spirited members of the Chinmaya Mission Kandy Centre, embarked on a 120 km Cycle Ride from Kandy to Colombo in Sri Lanka.
Carrying the message “Be Alert, Pedal For Peace,” the event was led by Swami Gunateetananda who also extended support through fundraising efforts for the event. Upon arrival at Mody Hall, the riders were given a warm and traditional welcome. They were also treated to rejuvenating Ayurvedic therapy, graciously provided by Dr. Sarangee Wimalasiri (BAMS, PhD), Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, and her dedicated team.
The ride was widely covered by local Sri Lankan television channels, amplifying the message of peace and awareness across the nation.
The celebrations continued on Sunday, June 29th with a grand Cultural Program at the Ramakrishna Mission Hall, Colombo, attended by over 500 participants. The event, organized and presented by the CHYKs and Study Class Members of the Kandy Center, was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Swami Aksharathmananda Maharaj (President, Ramakrishna Mission, Sri Lanka), Swami Gunateetananda (CMSL Colombo), Prof. Ankuran Dutta (Director, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center ICC), Mr. Peter Hill (Former CEO of Air Lanka), Dr. K. B. Jayawardana (Professor and Study Class Member, University of Kelaniya), Dr. Sarangee Wimalasiri (Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo), and a contingent of one hundred soldiers from the Tri Forces of Sri Lanka.
