Chinmaya Mission, Adoni celebrated Mahashivaratri with great devotion at Shri Shantamalleshwara Swami Temple, a sacred hilltop shrine in Adoni, which has been managed by the Chinmaya Mission Adoni Committee for the past 25 years.
Daily pujas were performed throughout the entire Magha month (11th month of Hindu lunar calendar), beginning on 19 January 2026 and continuing until Mahashivaratri. Around 840 devotees contributed through donations for the daily pujas.
On the auspicious day of Mahashivaratri, approximately 3000 to 4000 devotees visited the temple for darshan. The celebrations included special Laghu Rudra Abhishekam and Rudram Homam, conducted under the guidance of Veda Purohits.
Subsequently, on Monday 16 February, Lord Shiva and Parvati Kalyanam (vivah) was also celebrated in a grand manner. About 600 to 1000 devotees participated in the event, which was followed by mahaprasad.
This year also marked a significant addition to the temple, with the installation of a permanent metal Omkara symbol on the hilltop. Illuminated every night with electric lighting, it enhances the spiritual ambience of the sacred site.
