Pratispardha 2015 at Chinmaya Vidyalaya,Tattamangalam

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Tattamangalam organized the sports day in a grand manner with involvement of students, teachers and parents on 26th and 27th November 2015. The function was preceded by several rounds of meeting and meticulous planning. The Chief Guest of the function was president of District sports council Sri C. Haridas who is a well known athlete who has represented India in several national and international events and gained recognition. He also has his own coaching centre for student athletes. The programme was scheduled for two days with as many events with trophies’ medals and certificates to be won by the winning participants.

 

 

 

Day- 1: 26-11-2015. The first day the inaugural programme held between 9 to 10.30AM which began with an invocation song by the school choir to the almighty and invoking his blessings followed by flag hoisting and introduction of house captains, sports captains and Parade inspection by the chief guest. The chief guest was formally welcomed by the principal who also introduced the chief guest. There was spectacular and colourful March past followed by oath taking by the house captains. There was a well choreographed invocation dance subsequent to oath taking . The invocation dance Panchabutham which represents the five elements of nature the which maintain and sustain the life. After this brilliant performance the annual report was read out to the audience by the Captain Mast. Suryanarayanan and Kum. Srilakshmi.The Chief guest gave an inspiring talk to the students on how sports in the state of Kerala is fostered. He specially offered his help in training/ coaching desirous students from the Vidyalaya as a service and declared the sports meet open. The sports torch was carried by a relay of runners and sports captains which symbolizes the true spirit of sportsmanship followed by solemn oath taking ceremony by the captain and the house captains. Next in line was the spectacular display which ensured maximum participation of the students like Yoga, Kalari, Aerobics and free hand exercises which shows the concentration and presence of mind and a sense of team work. . As mark of devotion the whole programme was coordinated and managed by students. They were confident and impressive vibrating with youthful energy. Indeed it’s a step towards empowering our students true to the vision of our Poojya Gurudev. The remaining hours of the day was the track and field events which continued till 27th afternoon. One could see the vigourous participation and competitive spirit of all our students. Results were declared and certificates distributed simultaneously for all the track and field events.

 

 

Day – 2: 27-11-2015 The events started on second day as scheduled. An alumni of the school who is also a national athlete graced the day with her presence. Apart from students sports events this day also had seen participation by teachers and parents which indeed was an enjoyable sight. Students infact raised the morale of teachers for winning the medals. Post lunch the valedictory function was organized where Prof Sivarama Iyerji the academic advisor, Chinmaya Mission Palakkad graced the function. The function started of with invocation song, followed by Finale dance and prize distribution. The individual championships and the overall tropy for the march past and sports and games were given away by Prof Shivaramaiyer. Prof. Shivaramaiyer also motivated and congratulated the participants specially the winners. He highlighted the need for physical exercise. A list of events and respective winners are annexed with this report. Conclusion: The limited time available for rehearsal and planning and review of plans the event concluded in a very successful way cheering the students, parents and teachers alike. This also gave a chance for our students to brush up their managerial and coordination ability. The Chinmaya Mission members from Chittur too participated and encouraged the teams and students. The chief guest indeed was a model for aspiring athletes and his inspirational experience sharing would have let indelible mark on the young minds. We felt happy and was appreciative when he offered our students training facilities in his academy as a service. The Convenors specially Ms. Surabhi, Ms. Vijishahad and Mr. Firose toiled day and night to mark this a very successful programme and they deserve an appreciation. In this connection the contribution from Student council members, student volunteers, Head Mistress Ms. Deepa Menon, teaching and non teaching staff made this a great success. This is for the first time this methodical implementation of sports event happening in the school. The event also gave an opportunity for us to review our actions that highlighted the areas where we need to put in more effort. It certainly is learning for future.
