BCC celebration at Chinmaya Mission Portland

Senior Class Graduation and Mother’s Day on Gurudev’s centenary celebration day at Chinmaya Haridwar (Chinmaya Mission Portland).

On this auspicious day, seven of the 12th graders graduated with a traditional Guru Paduka Pooja followed by graduation ceremony. Everyone teared up when graduates expressed their bond with Chinmaya Mission Portland and how it provided them with an extended family that they can depend on and come back to.

We have a total of 48 teachers who volunteer to teach our children (infants through 12th grade) every week! We recognized their selfless work by giving them the book YOURS FOREVER. This was followed by presentations from Hindi language students, it was so touching to see them speak and recite poems about their mothers in Hindi (It was mother’s day after all).

We had a few of our little girls selling dazzling handmade cards to raise funds for Haridwar. Dads were so happy to offer these unique cards with roses to moms to wish them a very special happy Mother’s day.

When we thought this Mother’s day and Gurudev Jayanti couldn’t get any better, moms were invited to have lunch at our Shadras cafe for a lunch made by our dads! The cafe was decorated with beautiful flowers, table covers and balloons and each mom was garlanded by our children. And what a feast we all had!
