Swamini Shyamananda, formerly known as Dr. Shyamala and one of the early devotees of Pujya Gurudev, merged with Pujya Gurudev today, 1st November 2017 at 2:30 am.
Swamini Amma initially worked as a Resident Medical Officer at the Chinmaya Mission Hospital, Bangalore. Inspired by Pujya Gurudev’s vision and teaching, she founded the Mission centre at Adoni and developed its activities, in particular inspiring the youth. Amma also served the needy by maintaining a free medical dispensary.
Under Amma’s guidance and the instructions of Pujya Swamini Sharadapriyananda Amma, Chinmaya Mission Adoni took up the renovation of the ancient Shiva temple, Sri Shantamalleswara temple.
Amma has tirelessly served the Mission and continued to teach despite being confined to her bed over the last few years.
